The Minor Surgery Clinic
Your Solution for Unwanted Skin Lesions
01
The Consultation
Whether you have consulted with your GP or are just considering this procedure, all patients will receive a consultation during their visit. Our services cater to the removal of raised, non-cancerous skin lesions, providing a professional and safe environment for this process. For those uncertain about their lesion's eligibility, we encourage sending photos for an initial review, allowing us to offer guidance and reassurance throughout your journey with us.

Unfortunately, we are unable to remove cysts or lipomas.
Raised Skin Lesions
The Procedure
02
During the skin lesion removal procedure, we aim to provide you with the utmost comfort . Typically, we will have you lie down on our couch to ensure you are at ease throughout the process. The first step involves cleansing the area followed by the administration of a small dose of local anaesthetic to swiftly numb the targeted region, thus ensuring a pain-free operation experience. Shave excision, a minimally invasive surgical technique, entails using a flat blade scalpel to eliminate the raised lesion by drawing it across the skin, resulting in less anticipated scarring compared to other procedures. All procedures are preformed in a clinical treatment room.

For an additional charge you have the option to have your skin lesion tested (Histology). Histological testing can provide an accurate diagnosis of the nature of the lesion, helping you understand whether it is benign or potentially harmful. With the information obtained from histological testing, you can make informed decisions about any further steps you may need to take in terms of treatment or monitoring.
03
Aftercare
Once the procedure is complete you will be given a aftercare instruction sheet, this includes instructions on how to look after your wound, the healing process and things to be aware of during your wound healing.
The 3 Stages of Healing
Stage 1. Days 1-3: some inflammation and slight pain.
Stage 2. Days 4-14: the wound will proceed to heal over and close, and discomfort should diminish.
Stage 3. Once the wound has healed over, the area will continue the scar maturation process. The redness will begin to fade over the next 3-12 months.
If the wound becomes increasingly painful, red and swollen during the healing process, please contact us or your GP to check for infection.

If your lesion was sent for testing (histology), the result will be sent to you via a secure text message 2 weeks later.
